Resumen: The Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) technology is regarded as a promising solution to mitigate greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, especially carbon dioxide (CO2), primarily generated from fossil fuel combustion and industrial processes. This
technology captures and stores CO2 in underground geological formations, preventing its release into the atmosphere and contributing to global temperature control. In this context, the present study aimed to analyze public perceptions
regarding the use of CCS technology. A survey was conducted involving 653 students and professors from Federal Universities across Brazil. The data collection was carried out through an online questionnaire predominantly featuring closedended questions, focusing on topics such as Environmental Awareness and CCS Technology. The analysis revealed that only 8.88% of respondents had prior knowledge of the technology. However, among those aware of CCS, 74% deemed it
effective and necessary, over 60% supported its implementation in Brazil with public investments, and approximately 64% considered it safe. The findings further indicated that CCS is perceived as one of the most viable options for reducing GHG
emissions, ranking behind reforestation and solar energy but ahead of other initiatives such as recycling, biofuels, and wind energy.
