The Google Docs Form template developed by the program's graduate monitoring committee was sent to 79 graduates.
The questionnaire contains 33 objective questions and 1 essay. This aimed mainly to identify the graduates' professional field of activity and verify the program's contribution to the training of new professionals, researchers and teachers in the program's area of concentration.
Of the 79 graduates, only 37 responded to the questionnaire, thus totaling a sample with the participation of 47% of the total number of graduates for the period from 2015 to 2019. Based on this sample, the following conclusions can be drawn.
Regarding the area of activity, it was found that 59.5% of graduates are working professionally in the area that is related to their academic training in postgraduate studies in energy.
When evaluating the impact of the course on strengthening professionals and encouraging new training, grades were given from 0 to 5. Of the total number of graduates, 48.6% gave a grade of 5; 29.7% grade 4 and 16.2% grade 3. It is also worth highlighting that of the total number of graduates, 78.3% gave grades 4 and 5, therefore demonstrating the significant impact of the course on the professional and continued training of graduates .
In relation to the recognition of the importance of the Program for the social and cultural development of the region covered. Graduates were asked to give a grade from 0 to 5. Of the total number of graduates, 62.2% gave a grade of 5; 27.0% grade 4 and 10.8% grade 3. It is also worth mentioning that of the total number of graduates, 89.2% gave grades 4 and 5, thus highlighting the strong contribution of the program to regional development.
Regarding the field of activity of the graduates, the question was asked in which type of institution the graduates carry out their professional activities. Of the total number of graduates, 29.7% work at public universities; 24.3% in private educational institutions; 18.9% in the public administration sector; 24.3% in private companies and 8.1% in research institutions
Regarding the region where the graduates work professionally, they were asked where they work professionally. Of the total number of graduates, 73% work in Espírito Santo; 10.8% in other states in the southeast region; 5.4% in the northeast region of Brazil; 5.4% in other Brazilian regions and 5.4% in another country. Therefore, it is concluded that the majority of graduates work in the State of Espírito Santo. This finding highlights the strong contribution of the program to the development of the region where it is located.
Next, we can highlight examples of the program's contribution to regional development, taking into account the different professional fields in which program graduates work.
PROFESSIONAL PERFORMANCE IN BASIC, HIGHER EDUCATION AND RESEARCH
The program maintains a strong interaction with IFES (Federal Institute of Espírito Santo), since Eleven teachers from this institution completed a Master's degree in the program (PPGEN).
In 2019, of the total of 94 graduates from the program, 11% worked as teachers at IFES. Of the total of 11 graduates, 100% of them work in basic education (high school), 45% participate in research groups registered in the CNPq directory and 36% work as teachers in a Lato Sensu postgraduate course in the interdisciplinary area of the program.
NEPE (Energy Studies and Research Center) is the research group formed by PPGEN graduates. Detailed information can be found on the [NEPE] website(https://nepeifessm.wixsite.com/nepe)
The postgraduate program proposed by the graduates is called the Lato Sensu Postgraduate Program in Industrial Energy Efficiency. Additional data can be found on the website: https://ifes.edu.br/cursos/pos-graduacao/pos-graduacao-lato-sensu-em-efi...
In this way, it appears that several professors at IFES in São Mateus, mainly from the electrical engineering course, consider the proposed Master's course in Energy as an opportunity to complement their academic training.
Other IFES professors from cities neighboring São Mateus-ES, such as Nova Venécia, Linhares and Aracruz, completed a master's degree in the energy program. These graduates developed work in the line of energy efficiency research, whose research themes are related to the areas of engineering and technology.
PERFORMANCE IN THE INDUSTRY
Of the total number of graduates, 25% work in industry. Here we present 10 (ten) examples of successful work by graduates in companies located in the State of Espírito Santo and southern Bahia.
COMPLEMENTATION OF ACADEMIC TRAINING
In general, our students do not encounter difficulties in passing the selection processes for doctoral programs at the best universities in the country.
In the period from 2015 to 2019, of the total number of graduates, 30% were approved in selection processes for doctorates at UFSCar, UFRJ, UFPR and UFES.
