Professors accreditation

General regulation of Ufes (accreditation and reaccreditation of faculty members):The professors of the Postgraduate Program must produce scientific and technological studies with certified value according to the criteria established by the internal and external agencies of monitoring and evaluation in the Posgraduate program.
The professors must be registered in Plataforma Lattes, in CNPq and must maintain it updated reporting their scientific and technological studies at least twice whitin a year (up to June 30th and until December 31st).
The faculty members of the Postgraduate Programs are ranked into two categories: Standing professors and collaborators professors.
After the accreditation of the Postgraduate Program, inclusion, disconnection and the categorizing of the professors which are faculty members, must receive the approval of its colegiate body academic calendar.
The permanence criteria and the professors categorization must be established in the internal policy of each Postgraduate Program taking into account the guidelines of its area of CAPES evaluation.
The categorization of the professors will be made annually.
The accession request of a professor to a Postgraduate program will be formalized by the consent form filling to "Postgarduate program participation" seen in attaches set out in annexes l and ll of the Postgraduate Program general regulation.

Program policy for accreditation and reaccreditation of faculty members:

REGULATORY INSTRUCTION/PPGEN/CEUNES/UFES No. 29/2024

Sets standards for accreditation, re-accreditation, and de-accreditation of faculty members in the Graduate Program in Energy of the Centro Universitário Norte do Espírito Santo, of the Federal University of Espírito Santo.

THE ACADEMIC BOARD OF THE GRADUATE PROGRAM IN ENERGY (PPGEN), in the exercise of its legal and statutory powers and,

CONSIDERING RESOLUTION No. 52/2023 of CEPE/UFES, which approves the General Regulations for Graduate Studies of the Federal University of Espírito Santo;

CONSIDERING RESOLUTION No. 20/2024 of CEUNES/UFES, which approves the Internal Regulations of the Graduate Program in Energy of the Federal University of Espírito Santo;

CONSIDERING ORDINANCE No. 81/2016 of CAPES, which defines the categories of professors that make up the stricto sensu Graduate Programs (PPGs).

RESOLVES:

CHAPTER I - GENERAL PROVISIONS

Art. 1º Definitions:

a) Accreditation is the process of admission of a new member to the PPGEN teaching staff.

b) Re-accreditation is the process of periodic evaluation of professors who already work at PPGEN, which may result in maintenance or change of the permanent or collaborator categories.

c) De-accreditation is the process of departure of a professor who works at PPGEN.

Art. 2º Accreditation, re-accreditation or de-accreditation must be approved by the PPGEN board.

CHAPTER II – ACCREDITATION

Art. 3º The accreditation of a professor to the PPGEN will occur through a specific notice.

Art. 4º Candidates for accreditation will be evaluated based on their average technical and scientific production, as recorded in the Lattes Platform, for the four-year period preceding the Notice, following the criteria established in Table 1, Annex I. The accreditation evaluation criteria will be defined in Art. 9º and 10 of this Resolution.

Art. 5º If approved by the Board, the accreditation of a professor to the PPGEN will be formalized by completing the Agreement Form for “Participation in a Postgraduate Course”, provided for in Annexes I and II, of the General Regulations for Postgraduate Studies of UFES.

Art. 6. The accreditation of professors in the PPGEN must meet the criteria of quantitative balance of professors among the different lines of research and strengthening of interdisciplinarity in the program.

Sole paragraph: The gaps in the program in specific research areas will be prioritized for accreditation analysis. These areas will be disclosed so that professors who identify themselves can express their interest.

CHAPTER III – RECREDITATION AND DE-ACREDITATION

Art. 7. The re-accreditation of PPGEN professors will be carried out every two years.

Art. 8. For the PPGEN retention criteria, only the average technical and scientific production of professors registered in the Lattes Platform, for the four-year period prior to the re-accreditation evaluation, will be considered.

Art. 9. The criteria for categorization as a permanent or collaborating faculty member and for de-accreditation are based on the INDPROD parameter, defined as the sum of the following contributions: articles (IndArt), books (IndLiv), book chapters (IndCap), patents (IndTec) and papers at events (IndEve). The parameter is obtained by the equation INDPROD = IndArt + IndLiv + IndCap + IndTec + IndEve.

Art. 10. The score for technical and scientific production for categorization and de-accreditation of faculty members is found in Table 1 of Annex I of this Normative Instruction.

§ 1. The following criteria must be observed when completing Table 1:

I. The scores for articles, patents, books and book chapters are divided by the number of authors who are permanent faculty members of the PPGEN. The classification of articles follows the latest Qualis Capes classification event. Books are considered as long as they are approved by Capes. Organizing books does not generate points.

II. The maximum score limit for articles B3 and B4 is 20% of the total score for articles.

III. The maximum score limit for events is 25% of the sum of the scores obtained for articles, books and book chapters.

IV. The same author may score a maximum of two chapters included in the same work (book).

V. Patents filed will be counted.

VI. 10% will be added to the score value for technical and/or scientific production that has at least one PPGEN student or graduate as a co-author.

§ 2º In categorizing PPGEN professors, the following are considered:

I. Permanent: a professor with an INDPROD score greater than or equal to 1.10.

II. Collaborator: a professor with an INDPROD score greater than or equal to 0.60 and less than 1.10.

§ 3º Teachers with an INDPROD score lower than 0.60 will be de-accredited.

Art. 11. The change in category from permanent to collaborator may occur upon request by the teacher, forwarded to the program coordinator and approved by the PPGEN board.

Art. 12. De-accreditation may also occur upon the teacher's initiative.

Art. 13. Disqualified professors will not be able to receive new students for guidance.

Art. 14. The disqualification of the professor will be effective when his/her advisees complete the course or when the guidance is assumed by another permanent member of the program.

Sole Paragraph. The professor who chooses to end the guidance will not be able to teach the discipline in the PPGEN.

Art. 15. The temporary absence of permanent professors to carry out a post-doctoral internship, senior internship or other relevant academic activities does not prevent the maintenance of their accreditation, as long as the activities provided for in Art. 10 are maintained.

Art. 16. Omitted and special cases will be decided by the PPGEN Board.

Art. 17. This Normative Instruction shall come into effect on September 2, 2024, revoking Resolution 001/2019 of this Board as of this date.
